Welcome to Immanuel!
Walking into a new church for the first time can feel a little daunting. We want to make your first visit as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Here is a quick guide on what you can expect when you visit us on a Sunday morning.
Where Do I Go?
Our church is located at 1634 Illinois Ave. When you arrive, you’ll find parking on the street right in front of the doors. As you walk through the front doors, our elder and helper will be there to welcome you and point you toward the sanctuary, restrooms, and provide you with a bulletin. Pastor Johnson will also be available if you would like to talk to him. If you have any questions, just ask!
What is the Service Like?
At Immanuel, our focus is entirely on Jesus Christ and what He has done for us.
What Should I Wear?
Come as you are. You will see people in everything from jeans and t-shirts to suits and ties. We care much more about you being here with us than what you are wearing.
What About My Kids?
Children of all ages are incredibly welcome in our worship services! We love the sound of a full church, wiggles and all.
Will I Be Put on the Spot?
No. We will not make you stand up, introduce yourself, or wear a visitor badge. You can simply come in, receive a bulletin from an usher, find a seat, and participate at your own comfort level.
A Note on Holy Communion
As a congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, we believe that the Lord’s Supper is a gift where Christ truly gives us His body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Because the Bible teaches that taking Communion together is also a public statement of shared belief, we ask that visitors be instructed on our practice before communing.
